Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office

In the spring of 2003, the Oklahoma County Assessor’s office hired Latitude Geographics to help renovate their existing ArcIMS site, and link to their Public Access system and Colorado Customware CAMA (Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal) system. The integrated system now allows users to access and output GIS layers and orthophotos, tax assessment information, sales comparables, ownership information and more.

The redesigned and expanded site was a hit with local brokers and real estate professionals. Within a few months, traffic increased from several hundred hits per week to an average of five thousand of map requests per day.

Co-located at the Geocortex Data Center in Victoria, the Oklahoma County Assessor’s ArcIMS server communicates securely and in real time with the live CAMA system residing at the Oklahoma County Assessor’s office.

The benefits of the site have been so clear that some Oklahoma County Assessor staff have become Certified Webucation instructors by the Appraisers Board for continuing education, and people receive credit for learning advanced use of the site. “We knew there would be demand for an application like this, but the level of enthusiasm has really exceeded our original expectations”, explains James Mallory, GIS Director.

“Commercial and residential appraisers are doing increasingly sophisticated GIS analysis,” observes Mallory, “We’ve heard from people whose businesses have grown around this application, and they now depend on it.”
