The Position:
This challenging position involves the design and development of web-based Flash/Flex API mapping applications for our clients across North America and/or assignments with our products/R&D team. When it comes to design, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., said it well: “Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But, of course, if you dig deeper, it's really how it works. To design something really well, you have to 'get it.' You have to really grok what it's all about."
Depending on ability and experience, duties may include:
- Designing/developing customized Flash/Flex API web-GIS applications for clients
- Developing custom viewers, databases, and technical applications to enhance the existing service offering for specific client applications
- Product development
- Some project management, delegation, and training
- Some business analysis and technical writing
- Some server/network administration and troubleshooting
- Applicants must be willing and able to travel occasionally (should the need arise) to assist our clients with on-site implementation and training.
- Some international travel may be required (eg. Europe, Asia, and the Middle East).
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience with Flash and/or Flex API development
- Knowledge of many of the following software packages and technologies: Java, JSP, Microsoft .NET, Oracle, Oracle development tools, MS SQL Server

Available Position: Web/Graphic Designer (Victoria, BC)
The Position:
As a Web/Graphic Designer at Latitude Geographics, you’ll have an integral role in making internal development projects and external client projects a success. From creating new brands to designing software interfaces, you’ll find each day provides new creative challenges and experiences.
We’re looking for creativity, talent, and attention to detail.This position requires a combination of big picture creative vision and specific skills to make your vision a reality. You’ll work with a team of exceptional software developers to help develop and deliver cutting edge technology.
As a web-based geography company, knowledge of GIS and Internet mapping is a big asset, but we’re primarily interested in core skills. You can learn what we do.
In-house duties include:
- Brand/iconography design and development
- Storyboard and implement user interfaces for new software applications
- Assist with planning of marketing campaigns and mediums
- Design of advertisements and promotional materials (printed and digital)
- Administration and design of corporate websites
Client-specific duties include:
- Work directly with clients to assess their needs and meet their requirements
- Design customized interfaces for mapping applications based on client needs
- Write and implement help content for customized applications
- Create custom graphics/user interfaces for client applications
- Gathering and incorporating client feedback on user interface and application design
Qualifications:
- Creativity, talent, attention to detail.
- Demonstrable skills in visual communication, layout, typography, iconography, color harmony, branding & UI design.
- Thorough knowledge of the following software packages and technologies: Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, JavaScript.
- Knowledge or familiarity with Adobe Flex Builder 3 or Expression Blend is an asset.

Available Position: Sales Representative (multiple locations in the U.S.)
The Position:
Often you'll be on the phone contacting potential clients and handling inquiries, as you seek to understand how we might be able to apply our technology to help potential clients accomplish their goals. You will be involved with (or in charge of) writing small and large proposals, which often involves liaising with technical staff to design the right approach and ensure an accurate cost estimate.
You'll need to fly around the continent to conferences and other meetings, where you'll meet new people and present our products, services, and ideas.
Our goal is to become our clients' trusted advisors. This position requires that you build a relationship of trust with our existing and potential clients. We're in business to make our clients successful, not sell products and services at any cost.
Your first assignment is to sell us on you.
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to sell, ideally in the Information Technology sector
- Great people skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong business-related computer skills (Microsoft Office Professional suite)
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of GIS, geomatics industry, and Internet mapping desirable
